LEADED GLASS.

Glass is cut to individual shapes which fit together to form a pattern, picture or design. Lead cames (lead strips produced for this purpose) are then used to join the pieces of glass to form a panel. Where the lead meets, solder is applied.

The panel is then weather proofed and strengthened with lead light cement and polish.

COPPER FOIL.

Copper foiling was introduced at the end of the 19th century by Louis. C. Tiffany.

Glass shapes are cut and ground. The edges of the glass are then covered in copper foil.

The glass is then connected or pieced together, by running a bead of molten solder over the copper foiled glass. This method is used to create 3 dimensional objects, such as lamp shades.

ACID ETCHING.

This technique involves using a specialist clear glass with a thin layer of coloured glass melted (flashed) onto one side. Acid is used to "eat" or "etch" into the coloured layer to produce a contrasting design

SANDBLASTING.

High pressured sand is fired onto and cuts into the glass. The effect is a frosted texture.

PAINTING AND FIRING.

A picture is painted onto and then fired into the glass. The art work is then permanent.

FUSING.

A decorative panel can be made using all the above techniques.
